Sample Daily Program
08:30 am – Departure from Sofia. Arrival at Ofeliite Base, Vitosha Nature Park.
09:15 am – 10:00 am – Morning exercise and a fruit snack.
10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Science workshop with Bio Games.
Every Wednesday – “English Wednesday” – the workshop is conducted in English! For the younger age group it is in the form of a game, with selected English words.
12:00 pm – 01:00 pm – Lunch time.
01:00 pm – 03:00 pm – Activities with Machirski Sport – hiking / sport climbing / rope challenges / mountaineering activities!*
03:00 pm – 03:30 pm – Afternoon snack.
03:30 pm – 04:30 pm – Games and sport climbing activities.
04:30 pm – Departure for Sofia.
05:30 pm – Arrival at the final stop: “Vasil Levski” National Stadium.
- For children who sleep in the afternoon:
Our base has all the facilities for a wonderful afternoon nap. We also have a hammock area where children can sleep in the shade and fresh air.

15.06–19.06.26
Large group, 7+ years: Natural Phenomena:
Monday – “Magical Magnetism: Aurora Borealis and the Earth’s Poles”: Children will take part in a series of magnetism experiments and a compass experiment. At the end, each child will make their own compass as a souvenir from the workshop.
Tuesday – “Electricity: Lightning and Electricity from Fruits”: Children will learn what electricity is and what it is generated from in nature. They will create an electric circuit using fruits and have fun.
English Wednesday – “The Terrifying Tornado”: During this workshop children will take part in a pressure and temperature experiment. After that they will make their own tornado in a bottle. Each child will take their own tornado as a souvenir. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian.
Thursday – “Avalanches and How to Survive Them”: Children will learn what causes avalanches, what “gravity”, “mass” and “slope” are. They will simulate an avalanche using a mountain model and artificial snow. Each child will make a clay mountain.
Friday – “Invisible Forces”: Children will take part in several experiments and will discover what force is and what types of forces exist. At the end each child will make a parachute as a souvenir.
Small group, 4–6 years: A journey from the Solar System to Earth:
Monday – “The Solar System”: Children will learn more about the Solar System from our fun scientist. After that they will take part in a scavenger hunt game to find parts of the Solar System. At the end each explorer will make their own Solar System as a souvenir.
Tuesday – “Marine World”: In this workshop children will learn more about the rich marine world and the animals in it. At the end each child will make a sea animal as a souvenir.
English Wednesday – “Animals of Vitosha”: Children will go on an expedition to find animals and plants from Vitosha and will learn interesting facts about them. Each child will make a fox from natural materials. *The leader will present selected English words from the workshop through a game-based approach.
Thursday – “Little Hunters: Small Wild Cats”: During the workshop we will learn about the history of domestic cats and the stories of the smallest wild cats in the world. We will learn more about their superpowers. At the end each participant will make a cute small wild cat from natural materials.
Friday – “South America and the Maya – Chocolate and Cocoa”: Children will take part in an expedition to discover traces of the “history of chocolate”. They will take part in a role-play game to identify different tastes. Each child will make and consume cocoa according to an ancient Aztec recipe.

Large group, 7+ years: Around the World in One Week:
Monday – “South America and the Maya – Chocolate and Cocoa”: Children will take part in an expedition to discover traces of the “history of chocolate”. They will take part in a role-play game to identify different tastes. Each child will make and consume cocoa according to an ancient Aztec recipe.
Tuesday – “Adventure in Egypt – Mummification”: Children will take part in logical and competitive games to discover a treasure and solve a mystery from ancient Egypt. They will learn more about ancient Egyptian animal gods and how Egyptians mummified their dead. Each child will make a fruit mummy as a souvenir.
English Wednesday – “Animals of Vitosha”: Children will go on an expedition to find animals and plants from Vitosha, solve mysteries and learn interesting facts about them. Each child will make a fox from natural materials. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian.
Thursday – “The Mariana Trench”: Today scientists know more about Mars than about the deepest place in the ocean – the Mariana Trench. We invite all junior explorers on an ocean adventure! They will discover which animals live there through a trail expedition. Children will take part in experiments and learn through active learning how humans survive there. Each child will make an animal from the deepest place on Earth.
Friday – “Surviving the Himalayas”: How do some animals survive on the highest peaks on Earth? Which animals are they? Join us to find out and take part in a role-play game. Each child will make a mountain goose as a souvenir.
Small group, 4–6 years: Prehistoric Times:
Monday – “Sharks”: Children will discover interesting shark species and learn more about them through games with our scientist. Each child will make a shark badge.
Tuesday – “Make a Fossil”: Which dinosaurs lived in Bulgaria? Are there dinosaurs in Bulgaria today? Children will take part in an expedition to discover dinosaurs that lived on the territory of Bulgaria. Each child will make a fossil as a souvenir.
English Wednesday – “Dragons and Giant Serpents”: An ancient people discover the remains of a huge serpent that lived alongside dinosaurs! And create legends about terrifying fire-wrapped dragons. Did this serpent really exist? Join us to uncover the mystery. Each child will make a reptile and a dragon. *The leader will present selected English words through a game-based approach.
Thursday – “World of Dinosaurs”: Children will discover the most interesting dinosaurs and learn more about them. Each child will make a T-Rex foot as a souvenir.
Friday – “Ice Age”: Children will take part in an expedition to discover Ice Age animals and learn interesting facts about them. Each child will make an edible-material toy and have lots of fun!
20.07–24.07
Large group, 7+ years: Human Body:
Monday – “Cells and DNA”: Children will see cells under a microscope and learn more about cells and DNA. Participants will isolate DNA from fruit. Each child will make an edible cell.
Tuesday – “Bloody Experiments”: Participants will see a real heart and will be able to examine it. They will take part in a competitive and role-play game where they must work together to make our heart model function. Each child will make a heart.
English Wednesday – “The Lungs”: Children will see a real lung and examine it. They will take part in a movement game and an experiment about oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. Each child will make a lung model. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian.
Thursday – “The Brain – Parts or Whole?”: Children will take part in games to learn about the connection between senses and the brain through direct experience, and what happens if certain parts of the brain are missing. At the end they will make a brain from natural materials.
Friday – “The Body Defends Itself”: Children will take part in an expedition to discover the causes of diseases (viruses and bacteria). They will act as immune system cells in a movement game to catch diseases and protect the body. Each child will make an immune system cell.
Small group, 4–6 years: Health and Survival:
Monday – “Teeth”: With the help of a story and an expedition, children will discover how cavities form and how we can protect ourselves from them. What do bacteria have to do with it? Come and find out! Each child will make toothpaste.
Tuesday – “Experiments: colors, vacuum and rocket”: Children will move colors without touching them, create colorful fireworks and an amazing vacuum with simple materials. At the end each child will make a paper rocket as a souvenir.
English Wednesday – “Honey and the Bee Family”: Children will learn what different members of the bee family do and how they communicate through role-play. Each child will make a bee. *The leader will present selected English words through a game-based approach.
Thursday – “Surviving an Avalanche”: Children will attend an interactive lecture about avalanches and then simulate one using a mountain model and artificial snow. Each child will make a clay mountain.
Friday – “Bread and Yeast”: Children will learn about yeast and microorganisms used in food production. They will take part in a fun yeast experiment. Each child will learn how bread is made and will bake bread at home.
27.07–31.07
Large and small group: Kitchen Science:
Monday – “Homemade pH indicator and lemonade pH. What is it?” Children will learn the science behind pH in a fun way. They will make a pH indicator from household materials and test different substances. At the end they will make lemonade and test its pH.
Tuesday – “Bioluminescence in the kitchen and invisible ink”: Children will learn about different codes and their applications. They will decode secret messages and have fun. Each child will make invisible ink to take home.
English Wednesday – “Density: Column of mixtures”: Children will learn the science behind density in a fun way. Each will make a smoothie column of liquids with different densities. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian for the 7+ group. For the 4–6 group, selected English words will be introduced through play.
Thursday – “Beautiful crystals and minerals”: Children will go on an expedition to discover rare minerals and learn interesting facts about them. Each child will make a clay panel with semi-precious stones.
Friday – “Invisible and edible soil”: Children will learn why soil is important and its layers. They will simulate soil erosion. Each child will make a model of soil layers from food that can be eaten.
03.08–07.08
Large and small group: Experiments:
Monday – “Bacteria colony”: Children will discover bacteria under a microscope and take part in an interactive lecture. Each child will make yogurt as a souvenir.
Tuesday – “Science behind soap bubbles”: Children will learn how to make strong soap bubbles and the science behind them. They will create bubble solutions and test them.
English Wednesday – “Volcanoes”: Children will discover active volcanoes through a scavenger hunt. Each child will take home a lava model. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian for the 7+ group.
Thursday – “Make oobleck”: Children will do two experiments and learn what oobleck is. Each will make oobleck as a souvenir.
Friday – “Series of experiments”: Children will make objects disappear, test vitamin C, and learn about dissection. It will be fun and educational.
10.08–14.08.2026
Large and small group: Engineering and Physics:
Monday – “How do airplanes fly?” Children will learn about flight principles and explore birds and insects. Each child will make a bird-airplane model.
Tuesday – “Soap-powered boat”: Children will learn through role-play about materials and surface tension. Each will make a floating boat.
English Wednesday – “Make a catapult”: Children will learn about energy and make a catapult. *This workshop will be conducted in English and Bulgarian for the 7+ group.
Thursday – “Amazing motion – balloon cars”: Children will explore Newton’s laws and make balloon cars.
Friday – “Magic bubbles and slime”: Children will do experiments with bubbles and slime and take them home as souvenirs.
