THE BLACK PEAK
With an elevation of 2290 m this is the highest peak in the oldest Natural Park on the Balkans – Vitosha.
On the top of the peak you can witness a magnificent view of the capital city of Sofia, the great Sofia plane and the distant snowy peaks of the highest mountain on the Balkans – Rila.
The peak plays an important role in the history of Bulgarian tourism as the first ever mass ascension, organized by Aleko Konstantinov on 27th of August 1895, gave birth to the Bulgarian Tourist Union. Having its importance in mind, it was given the status of one of the 100 National Tourist Sights, a must see for all mountaineers and fellow travelers!
